President Barack Obama made an historic announcement on Wednesday that he believes same sex marriage should be allowed
Speaking from the White House to ABC News’ Robin Roberts, Obama said he has changed his position and is now in favor of allowing same sex couples to get married.
“At a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," the President said.
He is the first sitting president to support gay marriage, and made the announcement the day after North Carolina passed a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.
